One man is dead, and two other victims are recovering from serious injuries following an overnight triple shooting in Toronto’s Fashion District.

Police were called to the Queen Street West and Portland Street area just after 2:30 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a shooting outside of a nightclub.

Homicide detective Trevor Grieve said a 30-year-old man critically injured in the shooting was pronounced dead in hospital. He has been identified as Ibrahim Abdikarim.

Two other victims – a 36-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman – suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say a suspect fled in a dark-coloured, two-door sedan.

“Many people were in the area at the time of the shooting and fled into nearby establishments,” police said. “Anyone who witnessed the shooting, or who may have been driving in the area at the time and has dash-camera footage is asked to contact police.”
