In a sign that music festival season is just around the corner, two Ottawa-area events have announced dates for 2024. The Kemptville Live Music Festival is scheduled for July 18-21, while the Grassroots Festival is set for April 25-28.
In Kemptville, the Eastern Ontario town about an hour’s drive south of Ottawa, organizers have also confirmed the first two headliners to perform on the main stage at the Kemptville Campus Education and Community Centre. Canadian country singer Dean Brody will perform on Saturday, July 20, followed by ’80s pop-rockers Glass Tiger on July 21. Weekend passes are on sale now; day tickets will be available when the full lineup is released.
As for the 12th edition of the Grassroots Festival, the family-friendly, folk-music celebration returns to St. Andrew’s Church on Kent Street for April 25-27, then moves to Irene’s Pub, 885 Bank St., on April 28. The full lineup, curated again by local folksinger Ian Tamblyn, is expected to be released in the first week of February.
Meanwhile, a date has also been announced for the fifth annual round of Capital Music Awards. The show will be held May 16 at Bronson Centre Music Theatre. Nominations open Thursday, Jan. 25. Go to ottawamic.com for details on early-bird tickets and nomination forms.
