Alabama women’s basketball wins fifth straight, begin Betty Chancellor Classic on Friday.



Alabama women’s basketball picks up another victory on Sunday against Little Rock behind another good defensive display.

The Crimson Tide (5-0) were able to force 19 turnovers and hold the Trojans (0-4) to just 14 made shots.

Alabama’s stellar defense

Alabama’s defense was not making any shot easy on the Trojans in the first half. The Crimson Tide were able to hold Little Rock to just 35% shooting on eight made field goals.

Defense is the focal point of this year’s Alabama team and it was able to make virtually every shot difficult for the Trojans. The Crimson Tide also forced 10 turnovers in the first half including just eight points in the paint forced.

Another high point for Alabama was how clean it was able to play defensively without fouling, only forcing only three free throw attempts in the first half and just seven for the whole game.

The Trojans ended the game at just 31% shooting on just 14 made shots.

Jessica Timmons continues to do the little things

Perhaps one of Alabama’s toughest players, Jessica Timmons continues to impact the game in various ways on both ends of the floor.

Timmons drew various charges and recorded a season-high 14 points and nine rebounds, two offensive and seven defensive for Alabama, and also recorded a steal and block.

Timmons will continue to be one of Alabama’s key contributors on both ends of the floor the rest of the season.

Tough competition ahead

After five straight victories against unranked teams, Alabama will face a ranked Louisville team on Friday.

The Cardinals are the No. 19 ranked team in the country and will be Alabama’s toughest matchup to date.

The true identity of this Alabama team will be unveiled in its upcoming games against Louisville, Gonzaga and Liberty in the Betty Chancellor Classic.
