FlixBus has announced that it will begin offering the service on May 30 through its partner Gallexy Tours. The buses will run between the two locations five days a week.

“We’re excited to partner with Gallexy to offer this much-needed service to Owen Sound,” FlixBus Senior Manager of Network Planning Richard Szeri, said in a news release. “Our goal is to provide efficient and affordable transportation options for our customers, and this new route will do just that with tickets starting at 33.99 CAD. We are confident this partnership will benefit the local community and tourists alike.”

The new service will allow visitors to easily access the city from Toronto Union Station, with stops at Meaford, Collingwood, Barrie and Pearson International Airport along the way, the release said.

The FlixBus website has the service departing Toronto’s Union Station at 9:30 a.m. and arriving at the Owen Sound transit terminal at 1 p.m. on May 30. It then has the bus leaving Owen Sound at 3:15 p.m. and arriving at Union Station at 6:45 p.m. that day.

On May 16, Owen Sound’s operations committee received a report from Supervisor of Environmental Services Heidi Jennen, highlighting that an agreement was now in place between FlixBus and the city for the company to use the city’s transit terminal for passenger activities and public washroom access from Thursday to Monday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

The agreement, which runs May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025, will see FlixBus pay a monthly fee of $500, which will allow it to have signs at the transit terminal to designate the FlixBus boarding area. FlixBus has the option to extend the agreement for two additional one-year periods, and can terminate the agreement with a 60-day notice, Jennen’s report stated.

The monthly rate the city collects “will assist in alleviating the maintenance costs at the Transit Terminal,” the report said.

Customers can book their tickets with either FlixBus or their partner brand Greyhound on either brand’s websites and apps at flixbus.com or greyhound.com, the company said in its release.

Flix North America Inc., is the parent company of FlixBus Inc. and Greyhound Lines Inc., and a subsidiary of German-based mobility company Flix SE. The company and its subsidiaries offers inter-city bus service in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Its portfolio also includes FlixTrain, FlixCar and Kamil Koc.
