Here’s what’s open in Toronto on Victoria Day weekend | CBC News

If you’re planning to take full advantage of the Victoria Day festivities this long weekend, here’s a look at what will be open and closed in Toronto:

Fireworks

The City of Toronto will be holding its annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay Park on Monday, starting at 10 p.m.

People are advised to take public transit. Extra buses will be running before and after the show, Toronto police said.

Attendees are not allowed to set off their own fireworks, Supint. Kimberley O’Toole said Thursday. Drinking is also not permitted at Ashbridges Bay Park and speakers must be kept at a reasonable level, she said.

More police will be present at the beach this year, O’Toole said.

“When people come to the beach, some people are concerned about the increased police presence,” she said. “We explain that it is to ensure that everyone is able to ensure a safe experience while they’re here.”

She also advised people to not get in the water as temperatures remain very cold.
