A security guard is in serious condition following a shooting outside of Drake’s Toronto mansion.

The entrance to Drake’s Bridle Path home was taped off by police early Tuesday morning, with heavy police presence in the area for the investigation.

Toronto Police Services (TPS) say they had been called to a shooting around 2:10 a.m.  near the area of Bayview and Lawrence Avenues.

A security guard was injured after being struck by a bullet, and was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to police.

During a press conference Tuesday morning, Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the TPS Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force shared that they cannot speak to a motive at this time, but are encouraging anyone with any information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Krawczyk also confirmed that the security guard remains in serious condition.

Police cannot confirm if Drake was home at the time of the shooting, but say that they are in contact with his team who are co-operating with their investigation.

Police were not able to provide a suspect description, or identify how many suspects were involved, but said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Krawczyk also would not confirm if the shooting is considered a “drive-by” but says that a vehicle was involved.

TPS say they have a video of the incident but are not releasing it to the public at this time.

The shooting comes as the rapper is already making headlines amid an ongoing rap beef with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The feud has seen both artists drop numerous songs targeting each other, including Drake’s “Family Matters,” and Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams.”
